Yes& is looking for a Public Relations Director who is responsible for guiding the daily activities of an account team focused on a high-profile government program, as well as providing counsel and assistance to members of the Public Relations Department, the agency, and other clients as required.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and oversee the strategic direction and execution of localized and national  public relations campaigns that use earned media, publicity, press events and other tactics to develop awareness for a major federal government program
  • Develop and execute annual, comprehensive public relations plans
  • Help establish  target audiences and create clear and concise messages for each audience. Assess program effectiveness and recommend changes, if required
  • Proactively develop and pitch stories of national interest to trade, local and national outlets including broadcast and business press
  • Manage other public relations staff and resources
  • Oversee budgeting of media-related projects or project components
  • Field and direct responses to all media-related inquiries
  • Plan and implement clients’ public relations strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Research and write copy for blogs, op-eds and other content marketing materials
  • Build and maintain a database of public relations contacts and foster media relationships
  • Develop and prepare presentations and talking points for client speaking engagements
  • Train and coach client staff for media interview and public speaking engagements

Experience You Need

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and 10 or more years of experience in a public relations environment to include content creation, marketing, and public relations
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience of direct personnel
  • Significant experience with B2C, B2B or B2G client work
  • Previous work in a government agency environment or for companies/clients in the public sector market is a plus
  • Proficiency with Google Suite products and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Superior writing, research, and oral presentation skills
  • Financial management of client deliverables
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple complex projects and accounts
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a Public Trust Security Clearance

Experience that Would be a Plus, but not Required

  • MBA, or Advanced degree in Marketing or Management
  • Application of AgencyAgile, including Roadmapping and Resourcing
  • Time reporting and project management in Workamajig
  • Familiarity with government clients and/or insurance programs
