Yes& is looking for a Senior Project Accountant that possesses a solid understanding of GAAP and Government contracts. This position will work closely with the Controller and will be responsible for cost accounting and client profitability.
What You Will Do
- Prepare various client billing types including Cost Plus, T&M and Fixed Price billings for submission to customers
- Read and interpret the basic contract document as it relates to billing and revenue recognition, identify and confirm invoicing requirements with the Account Manager as necessary
- Handle Life Cycle project accounting from creating project accounts, to tracking projects and project budget, validating invoicing, project close-out, and reconciling overall project payables and receivables to project budgets
- Perform detailed and involved accounting tasks related to managing project contract, billing events and billing transaction exceptions revenue for government/commercial clients
- Analyze budgeting and costs on the contract and associated reports and spending plans
- Perform monthly revenue review and research discrepancies
- Assist with GSA and DCAA audits to ensure contract compliance
- Monitor timesheet completion and prepares timesheet reporting
- Assist and/or prepare timely, complete, and accurate monthly financial reports including calculation and posting of revenue, associated accruals, prepaid expenses, bank and other reconciliations, and budget variance analysis
- Prepare closing general ledger entries for various accounts, including cash, accruals, and accounts payable
- Provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
Experience You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
- Minimum 1-2 years experience working with a Government Contract
- Significant understanding of CPFF, FFP, T&M contracts, Labor Categories and Rate Sheets
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong MS Excel Skills with formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data format/sort/filter
- Ability to lead projects at this level, requiring delegation of work and the review of others’ work product
- Able to work on a deadline and multi-task
- Strong communications skills
